4 Week Class

Material: Oil Paints - ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED

Meaning “at first attempt”, an Alla Prima painting is an image that is typically made in a single sitting, without layering. This class will focus heavily on accurate color mixing and capturing the impression of the subject.

Topics of focus include-

• Advanced color palettes + Color Theory

• Composition and effect

• Advanced Materials - Surfaces, Mediums, Pigments

4 Week Class

February 5th, 12th, & 19th, & 26th

Material: Oil Paints - ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED

Whether you are new to painting or have some experience, this class is aimed at teaching students various layering and painting techniques to achieve greater depth and luminosity in their paintings.

• Underpainting and Grisaille

• Advanced color palettes + Color Theory

• Glazing techniques

• Advanced Materials - Surfaces, Mediums, Pigmen

Every 2nd & 4th Wednesday evening. 6:00-9:00pm.

This class is an introduction for those who are new to painting in oils. Students will learn to mix a basic palette of colors and complete 2-3 paintings using a traditional, stable, and non-toxic method.

This class aims to teach the student to accurately represent the live human form. Using both academic and expressive approaches, students will gain a deep understanding of how to block in figures and handle light, shadow, weight, and structure.

This class includes two optional Wednesday Open Life Drawing sessions in its admission fee.

Material: Pencil

This class aims to give both beginners and those with some drawing experience a strong foundation in accurate drawing. Concepts that will be covered in depth will be: the relationships between light and shadow, line quality, form, and materials.

Each student will complete 3-4 drawings in this class.

Working from both reference and a live model, students will learn a range of practical and foundational skills that will apply to not only portraits, but any form of representational drawing. Students will complete a small series of drawings in this class.

This class is an introduction for those who are new to painting in oils. Students will learn to mix and paint using a traditional, stable, and non-toxic methods.

Starting with an in depth discussion of materials, students will learn to handle and mix colors, prepare surfaces, and gain a foundational understanding of oil painting while making 2-3 paintings.

3 Week Class

Mondays - October 16th, 23rd, 30th

This class is an introduction for those who are new to drawing, or need a refresher on the basics. Through a series of small studies, discussions, and exercises, students will learn the fundamentals of line, value, and form, along with a grasp of basic concepts of light and shadow.

Each student will complete 3-4 drawings in this class.
